So, why start a blog?

Nothing in particular. Like most of my hobbies, this too started on a whim. There’s no clear or practical goal aside from personal enjoyment.

Speaking of hobbies, I have many. And I really like the idea of having somewhere to post anything about what I am currently interested in, curious about, or obsessing with without thinking of likes, algorithms, engagement or any other thing that comes with social media.

What’s with the name?

Honestly I’m just looking for a domain name that’s not already taken. I just combined some words that’s somehow still resonates with me personally and this is what I came up. Of course there are other ones that I thought of before this one but they’re already taken.

Hermit - I kind of live like one. I seldom leave my cave and enjoy spending my time learning anything about what interests me at the moment.

Makes - I love learning how to build and make things.

Basically the words The Hermit Makes resonated because I think it captures my life in a nutshell.

And since it resonated and was still available, I handed over my money and purchased the domain.

What’s up with all these Japanese characters? 日本人ですか？

Am I Japanese? No.

Is my inner weeb leaking out? I don’t know.

But what I do know is that I’m currently learning Japanese and just want to put it here.
